Job summary

Management Performance Associates seeks a Senior Hardware Design Engineer in Huntsville, AL, to lead the development of rugged embedded hardware platforms used in defense and industrial applications. The role involves architecture, design, bring-up, verification, and production release of advanced SBCs, FPGA/MPSoC boards, and high-speed interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, embedded hardware design, or electronic product development.
• Strong understanding of PC architecture, processor-based embedded systems, and hardware interconnects.
• Demonstrated PCB design capability, including schematic capture, component selection, and hands-on PCB placement and routing.
• Strong understanding of high-speed PCB design considerations, including differential signaling and transmission-line loss and crosstalk.
• Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, root-cause debug, and product verification/validation.
• Ability to develop test and verification plans and validate hardware against product requirements.
• Self-starting approach to problem-solving and ability to work independently through complex technical issues.
• Willingness and ability to contribute across the complete product development lifecycle, from requirements and concept through design, bring-up/debug, verification/validation, production release, and sustainment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug, and support advanced embedded hardware systems.
• Serve as a senior technical contributor and design authority for complex hardware programs.
• Design digital hardware with Intel/ARM processors, DDR memory, FPGAs, MPSoCs, and RFSoCs.
• Develop high-speed interfaces including DDR4/DDR5, PCIe, and multi-Gigabit Ethernet.
• Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, software, systems, and manufacturing teams.
• Lead architecture discussions and influence product direction and best practices.
