Job summary

Google seeks a software engineer for the Pixel GPU driver team in Mountain View to own and evolve the kernel and user-space driver stack. You will develop new features, improve performance, bring up silicon, and debug challenging issues across the GPU software stack.

The role requires strong C/C++, GPU programming skills, and hardware-software integration experience. Expect in-person interviews and collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in low level systems programming languages (e.g. C++ or C).
  • 3 years of experience developing and maintaining device drivers that interface software with hardware.
  • 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
  • 1 year of experience with Graphics Processing Units or GPU architecture and its role in a system.

Responsibilities

  • Develop GPU graphics and compute technologies spanning the full GPU software stack.
  • Seek general solutions to problems, minimizing application or device-specific workarounds to serve users of all Pixel devices, including in-market devices.
  • Help evaluate and bring-up devices and work with product and engineering teams to define the role and requirements of the GPU in future product designs.
  • Debug sophisticated user mode and kernel mode problems.
