Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer III for the Blue Ring program to design, develop, and test flight software for a multi-mission spacecraft capable of operating in Earth orbit and beyond.

This role emphasizes collaboration with avionics, systems, and propulsion teams, hands-on testing, and involvement from concept to on-orbit operations; relocation assistance and travel up to 10% are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development.
• Proficiency in C++ programming in resource-constrained embedded environments.
• Experience with Python development for tooling, test automation, or scripting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded flight software for the Blue Ring spacecraft.
• Implement software requirements derived from system-level specifications with traceability.
• Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test procedures.
• Collaborate with avionics, systems, and propulsion engineers to define software interfaces.
• Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and technical peer reviews.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex software and hardware/software integration issues in a lab/test environment.
