Job summary

Inversion, headquartered in Playa Vista, CA, seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to own the development and testing of flight software for Arc avionics. You will design real-time embedded C/C++ code, build low-level drivers (SPI/I2C/UART/CAN/Ethernet/RS-422), and drive end-to-end ownership from requirements to flight operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience with embedded C/C++ in real-time systems.
• Experience with bare-metal microcontrollers and RTOS like FreeRTOS, RTEMS, or VxWorks.
• Ability to read schematics and debug hardware with lab equipment.
• Experience building hardware peripheral drivers and serial protocols.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Eligibility to obtain/maintain U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-reliability embedded software in C/C++ for avionics platforms.
• Architect and implement drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, and RS-422.
• Own modules end-to-end from requirements through testing and operations.
• Bring up new avionics hardware and debug boundary issues with tools like JTAG and logic analyzers.
• Integrate software in SIL/HIL environments and collaborate with Flight Software teams.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers on standards.
• Coordinate with hardware/CAD teams to align board-level design and autonomy goals.
