Job summary

Inversion is seeking an Avionics Embedded Software Engineering Intern to join the Avionics team in Los Angeles. You will gain hands-on experience writing firmware, bringing up hardware, and validating software in hardware-in-the-loop environments for next-generation reentry vehicles.

Work alongside embedded software, electrical, RF, and GNC engineers to develop and test software that interfaces directly with flight hardware, using Python for automation and various debugging tools.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate in a related engineering discipline.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, lab, or projects).
• Experience in embedded systems, computer architecture, OS, or real-time systems.
• C/C++ programming experience.
• Experience with microcontrollers or embedded processors.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, test, and debug flight software and firmware with avionics engineers.
• Develop software for microcontrollers, sensors, and communication interfaces.
• Support board bring-up and hardware/software integration.
• Implement and debug drivers and interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, GPIO, ADCs).
• Develop test scripts and analysis tools to automate validation.
• Support real-time software development using an RTOS.
