Job summary

Inversion in Los Angeles seeks an Avionics Embedded Software Engineering Intern to support development, integration, verification, and debugging of embedded software for next-generation reentry vehicles. You will work with avionics, embedded software, electrical, RF, GNC, and test engineers to interface with flight hardware.

This hands-on internship emphasizes firmware development, hardware bring-up, sensor integration, and validation in lab and hardware-in-the-loop environments.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD program in a related engineering field.
• Coursework or project experience in embedded systems or real-time software.
• Experience programming in C/C++ and developing for embedded hardware.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, test, and debug flight software and firmware for avionics hardware.
• Support board bring-up and hardware/software integration.
• Implement and debug drivers and interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
• Develop tests and automation scripts in Python for validation and analysis.
• Document software behavior, test results, and interfaces.
