Job summary

Matternet Inc. is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop firmware bridging aircraft hardware and higher software layers. You will bring up new boards, own drivers, and ensure reliable sensors and actuators for every flight.

You’ll work across microcontrollers and embedded Linux, collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, and Onboard Software teams, and drive end-to-end validation from bench to flight test. This in-person role is based at Matternet Headquarters.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with embedded firmware and microcontrollers.
• Experience with RTOS and flight/controls software is ideal.
• Strong C/C++ skills and driver development background.
• Familiarity with sensors (IMU, GPS, encoders) and hardware interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain firmware for Matternet's aircraft and station embedded systems.
• Own hardware/software boundary: bring up boards, write/debug drivers, integrate sensors and peripherals.
• Select and integrate microcontrollers and communication buses; support verification and release.
• Troubleshoot field and flight-test issues at the hardware/software boundary.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Onboard Software, Operations, Safety, and Production teams.
