Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize firmware for our next-generation satellite user terminal. You'll build real-time, robust firmware for beam steering, transceiver control, and high-throughput data routing.

You will work at the intersection of hardware and software, developing bare-metal or RTOS-based firmware for high-speed RF hardware in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering.
• 7+ years in embedded software development for high-speed comms/hardware.
• Expert-level C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with RTOS and Embedded Linux.
• Ability to read schematics and use lab tools to isolate issues.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement modular embedded C/C++ firmware for MCUs/SoCs.
• Program and calibrate phase registers across BFICs for beam steering.
• Develop low-level drivers (SPI/I2C/UART/PCIe/Ethernet).
• Optimize networking protocols for ultra-low latency and throughput.
• Implement real-time thermal/power management and fault protection.
• Develop secure bootloaders and OTA firmware updates.
