Job summary

Trystar Inc. is seeking a Staff Embedded Firmware Engineer - Power Electronics in Merrimack, NH. You will write, integrate, and verify real-time firmware for power conversion products and lead the firmware workstream on new programs.

Responsibilities include developing firmware for DC/DC converters, grid-tied inverters, and energy storage systems, with verification across processor-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop platforms. Travel up to 20% within North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 10+ years of embedded firmware experience.
• Expert proficiency in C, and working proficiency in C++, for real-time, microcontroller-based control systems.
• Experience implementing power electronics control algorithms in production firmware.
• Experience with bootloaders, device drivers, interrupt service routines, RTOS or bare-metal schedulers.
• Experience with TCP/IP, Ethernet, CAN, Modbus, or similar protocols.
• Strong documentation skills for firmware requirements and design specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded real-time firmware in C/C++ for power conversion systems.
• Implement control algorithms from specifications and ensure timing within budgets.
• Integrate MATLAB/Simulink generated code and verify traceability to the control spec.
• Design real-time software architecture including drivers and HALs.
• Create and maintain peripheral drivers and interface software for MCU peripherals.
• Develop embedded communication stacks and diagnostics for power electronics products.
• Mentor junior firmware engineers and contribute to schedules and reviews.
