Job summary

Trystar is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer in Merrimack, NH (onsite) to lead design efforts in Power Conversion Solutions. You will design and coordinate large-scale mechanical systems for rack-mounted equipment, modular power devices, UPSs, rectifiers and inverters, while partnering with R&D, manufacturing and suppliers.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years in mechanical design, strong CAD (SolidWorks), FEA/CFD tools, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years experience in mechanical design, preferably in power electronics packaging.
• Experience with electrical enclosures, panel layout, seismic considerations, heat management.
• Proficient with SolidWorks and ERP/CAD systems.
• Knowledge of relevant mechanical codes and standards (ASME, NEMA, UL, IEC).
• Ability to generate BOMs and drawings for sheet metal, plastic, extruded parts.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete mechanical design including layout, modeling, drawings, and requirements.
• Support thermal analysis, FEA, CFD simulations.
• Define and develop mechanical systems for power conversion products.
• Lead mechanical design reviews and guidance across product lines.
• Collaborate with hardware designers for PCB mounting and packaging.
• Develop 3D CAD models and drawings for complex enclosures.
• Collaborate with QA, Manufacturing, and Assembly to improve designs.
• Design and validate fixtures; support prototypes and production launches.
• Manage BOMs, documentation using Empower, PDM, Epicor.
• Respond to vendor questions on mechanical parts.
• Document mechanical requirements and best practices for enclosures.
• Contribute to standardizing design practices across sites.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
