Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and test embedded software for complex products. You will work with hardware and software teams to define interfaces, implement drivers, and ensure secure, reliable firmware running on RTOS platforms.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a STEM field and 6+ years’ embedded experience, with Proficiency in C, C++, I2C, and Git. The position is hybrid in Centennial, CO with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a STEM field.
• 6+ years of embedded software/firmware experience.
• Proficiency in embedded C for microcontrollers.
• C++ for embedded and systems-level development.
• I2C and other embedded communication protocols.
• RTOS experience (Micro C, Zephyr, Embedded Linux).
• Security-conscious firmware development practices.
• Git or similar version-control experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop robust embedded software and firmware for assigned products.
• Integrate software components into embedded platforms and ensure seamless interaction between hardware and software.
• Build and execute unit-level and system-level tests using hardware-in-the-loop simulators to validate functionality and performance.
• Define, document, and manage hardware-to-software interfaces for clarity and maintainability.
• Design and implement drivers for embedded system peripherals with reliable resource usage.
• Develop secure firmware and apply security principles in embedded software design.
• Use version control systems to manage source code and support collaborative development.
• Troubleshoot and debug embedded software issues and identify root causes.
