Job summary

Actalent seeks a Software Engineer – Embedded Firmware in University Park, IL, to design and develop firmware for hardware devices. You will collaborate with hardware engineers, implement low-level software for microcontrollers, and apply RTOS techniques to ensure deterministic system responses.

Qualifications

5–7 years of experience in embedded software or firmware engineering.
Strong proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
Deep knowledge of microcontroller architectures, memory management, peripherals, and protocols.
Hands-on experience with RTOS like FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
Experience with unit/integration/system validation for firmware.
Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for hardware devices.
Interact with microcontrollers, memory, peripherals, and communication interfaces.
Use RTOS to ensure deterministic and timely responses.
Collaborate with hardware engineers for firmware-hardware integration.
Perform unit, integration, and system validation of firmware.
