Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and test robust embedded software for complex products. You will collaborate with hardware, software, and test teams to define interfaces and implement drivers on real-time platforms.

The role requires a BS in a STEM field and 6+ years in embedded software; experience with RTOS like Zephyr and Embedded Linux is preferred. This hybrid Centennial, CO position offers a solid compensation package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or STEM field.
• 6+ years of embedded software/firmware development experience.
• Strong C programming for microcontrollers and embedded systems.
• Experience with C++ for embedded and systems-level software.
• Hands-on experience with I2C and other embedded protocols.
• Experience with RTOS such as Micro C, Zephyr, or Embedded Linux.
• Developing secure firmware and applying security principles.
• Proficient in Git or similar version-control systems.
• Ability to define and manage hardware-to-software interfaces.
• Designing and implementing drivers for embedded peripherals.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop embedded software/firmware.
• Integrate software components into embedded platforms and ensure hardware/software interaction.
• Build and run unit and system tests, including hardware-in-the-loop validation.
• Define and manage hardware-to-software interfaces for system clarity.
• Design and implement drivers for embedded peripherals.
• Develop secure firmware and promote security best practices.
• Use Git for source control and collaborative development.
• Troubleshoot and debug embedded software, finding root causes and fixes.
• Refine requirements into technical specs and implementation plans.
