Job summary

Cyngn is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Mountain View to lead firmware design, validation, and safety-critical development for vehicle drive and safety controllers. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to deliver production-quality firmware with MISRA C compliance.

You will define architecture, review schematics, debug with JTAG/ETM, and advance CI/CD practices while leveraging RTOS and ISO 26262 guidelines.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of embedded software in a product-focused environment.
• Deep expertise with microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M preferred) and real-time control.
• Strong debugging skills with JTAG/ETM, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Experience with safety-critical software standards (MISRA C, ISO 26262).
• Ability to read electrical schematics and work across hardware/software boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate firmware for vehicle drive and safety controllers.
• Define architecture, coding standards, and system interfaces for embedded software.
• Review schematics and ensure firmware-hardware integration.
• Debug complex issues using JTAG/ETM and other tools.
• Develop safety-critical code per MISRA C and similar standards.
• Leverage sensors (LIDAR, cameras) for advanced features like Virtual Bumper (ASIL-C level).
• Create API docs, state diagrams, and test matrices for firmware.
• Plan and execute firmware test procedures across vehicle integration levels.
• Own HIL testing specifications and support test automation.
• Maintain CI framework for embedded software.
