Job summary

Redwire Defense Tech is seeking a Senior Staff Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and validate firmware for UAV control systems and power management. You’ll work across a multidisciplinary team to ensure robust, safety-critical performance and seamless integration with the overall system.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of firmware experience, strong C/C++ skills, RTOS proficiency, and a track record in defense or regulated industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred.
• 10+ years of firmware engineering experience in complex systems such as UAS or advanced electronics.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems with production firmware experience.
• Experience with RTOS and microcontroller programming.
• Experience with device drivers, protocol implementation, and safety-critical embedded applications.
• Knowledge of embedded networking protocols.
• Proven in testing and validation for embedded systems.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated industries is advantageous.
• Experience with defense contracts preferred.
• Cybersecurity experience in embedded systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Firmware design and development for UAV control systems and power management.
• Develop test plans and perform validation for safety and performance.
• Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to ensure integrated designs.
• Lead implementation of innovative solutions and cybersecurity enhancements.
