Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Embedded Software Engineer to lead development of software for unmanned and robotic systems, including autopilots and payloads, for defense and commercial use.

You will write, test, and debug software on embedded devices and evaluate performance in flight-test environments. The role requires extensive experience in C/C++, Python, and real-time OS, plus strong design, debugging, and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12–15 years of embedded software experience.
• Proficient with Python, C, C++11, C++ STL, OpenCL.
• Experience with common protocols RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB.

Responsibilities

• Writes and tests software to support integration of sensors and embedded processors into aircraft or robotic systems.
• Designs and implements software for prototypes and products using established AeroVironment tools and practices.
• Ensure good configuration control and management of software.
• Leads in writing system requirements, system test plans, diagnostics and validation testing.
• Leads development of rapid prototyping and transition of software to production and certification.
