Job summary

Acacia (part of Cisco) seeks an Embedded Software Engineering Technical Leader to guide the firmware architecture of Acacia’s transceivers and SOC platforms in Maynard, MA. You will drive high-reliability, low-latency embedded firmware across multi-core MCUs and collaborate with cross-functional teams including ASIC, DSP, Optical, and Hardware.

This leadership role requires 12+ years in embedded C/C++, 8+ years with RTOS, and hands-on experience with ARM Cortex processors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 12+ years of professional embedded software experience.
• 10+ years in low-level embedded C and C++ for resource-constrained hardware.
• 8+ years with RTOS (VxWorks, FreeRTOS, ThreadX or similar).
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M/R cores, BSPs, drivers and peripherals.
• Ability to work 100% onsite in Maynard, MA during onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture and implementation of high-reliability, low-latency embedded firmware.
• Collaborate with ASIC, DSP, Optical, and Hardware teams to co-design interfaces.
• Architect multi-threaded control-plane firmware, BSPs, drivers, and real-time state machines.
• Establish firmware standards and mentor senior engineers across the org.
• Provide technical direction to scale our embedded software presence.
