Job summary

Acacia, part of Cisco, is seeking a Control Systems & Embedded Software Technical Leader in Maynard, MA to design and implement high-speed closed-loop control systems for optical modules and transceivers.

You will develop highly efficient embedded C/C++ firmware for ARM Cortex-M/R on bare-metal and RTOS, collaborating with Hardware, Optics, and Calibration teams to bring up new boards and verify feedback loops under demanding optical conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of professional experience in embedded software.
• 6+ years in low-level embedded C/C++ for hardware control.
• 5+ years RTOS experience (VxWorks, FreeRTOS, ThreadX or similar).
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M/R microcontrollers and real-time control.

Responsibilities

• Design, tune, and optimize real-time closed-loop control algorithms (PID).
• Develop compact embedded firmware to configure, monitor, and calibrate subsystems.
• Collaborate with Hardware/Optics/Calibration teams to bring boards up.
• Implement firmware state machines and low-level drivers.
• Own critical firmware features from simulation to production release.
