Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is building out an AV Labs Diagnostics team in Sunnyvale to design fault detection, monitoring and dashboards for a high-velocity, data-focused fleet. You will implement UDS/DoIP fault handling across MCU and Linux, and develop a scalable health telemetry pipeline.

You will observe Linux behavior with eBPF, build Grafana dashboards, and ensure safe production deployment from bring-up to end-of-line testing while collaborating across hardware and software teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement fault detection, event and DTC handling, UDS and DoIP services, and watchdog supervision across the MCU and the Linux compute platform.
• Design and own the vehicle health monitoring pipeline: collect metrics, logs and fault events from the MCU and the Linux SoC, and send them to a central time-series store using standard tooling such as Prometheus exporters or OpenTelemetry collectors.
• Use eBPF and kernel tracing to observe Linux SoC behavior with low overhead: scheduling, network, driver and camera pipeline latency, and frame or packet drops.
• Build dashboards in Grafana for fleet, vehicle and board health: temperatures, voltages, power state, bus load, time sync offset, and update status.
• Commission the compute, MCU and sensor stack in vehicles and validate timing like gPTP and PPS.
• Use monitoring data to reproduce and root-cause vehicle issues and turn them into automated regression tests and dashboards.
• Contribute to safety analysis and implement safety mechanisms; protect diagnostic access with authenticated sessions.
