Job summary

Uber’s AV Labs is building a high-velocity team to turn real-world operations into high-quality data for autonomous partners. The role focuses on firmware for automotive MCUs, including bring-up, secure updates, and integration with the main compute platform.

You will lead design, validation and production-ready firmware for vehicle systems. You will work with AUTOSAR Classic and FreeRTOS, drive hardware bring-up, and collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure robust, secure updates and time

Qualifications

• 7+ years developing embedded software in C/C++ on RTOS or bare metal.
• Experience with automotive MCUs (AURIX) and CAN/CAN-FD.
• Production lifecycle from prototype to production in autonomous vehicle domains.

Responsibilities

• Design, write and maintain C firmware and drivers for automotive MCUs on FreeRTOS and AUTOSAR Classic: CAN-FD, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, LIN, ADC, PWM.
• Own the bridge between vehicle CAN-FD buses and the compute SoC, including buffering, filtering and timestamping.
• Implement power sequencing, sleep and wake, voltage/temperature monitoring, fan control, SoC watchdog and reset supervision, and gPTP/PPS distribution.
• Own the bootloader and dual-bank update path, including versioning, signing, rollback and recovery.
• Own board bring-up and validation for custom hardware; participate in schematic reviews and debug with oscilloscopes and Lauterbach TRACE32.
• Integrate and regression-test supplier firmware drops and mentor teammates on code quality.
