Job summary

Verkada is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer for its Command Connector team in San Mateo, CA. You will design and maintain a cloud-enabled, edge-processed system that handles numerous camera streams and legacy protocol integration, enabling AI-powered search at the edge.

The role requires strong Linux systems programming, embedded development, and on-site work five days a week, with opportunities to influence security, boot processes, and high-performance streaming pipelines.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science (or similar degree).
• 5+ years of Linux system programming experience (C/C++, Rust, Go).
• Experience in embedded development or low-level system software.
• Good knowledge of operating systems and computer architecture.
• Must be willing to work onsite five days per week.

Responsibilities

• Read kernel oops/panic traces.
• Debug GPU driver issues.
• Work with boot/security subsystems like secure boot and LUKS disk encryption.
• Tackle networking internals (routing, firewalling, link-layer issues).
• Manage RAID arrays (mdadm, disk failure/rebuild scenarios).
