Job summary

Hivemapper in San Francisco is looking for a lead engineer for the Sensors & Embedded Applications team to design and implement embedded dashcam and sensor software, and to push edge ML processing and sensor fusion. You will mentor engineers and help balance performance with development speed while planning firmware releases.

The role requires hands-on Linux-based embedded development, strong C/C++ skills, and experience with at least one of Python, Typescript, Node.Js, or Go.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience leading, setting technical direction, and mentoring engineers.
• Hands-on Linux OS development experience for embedded systems.
• Proficiency in C or C++ and at least one of Python, Typescript, Node.Js, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of software engineers to design and implement embedded applications, high-level sensors drivers, and computer vision pipelines at the edge.
• Own the balance act of engineering for performance, development speed, and robustness.
• Write high quality software that takes advantage of hardware paths when possible.
• Plan firmware and application releases and their execution.
