Job summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Power Tools Team. Based in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Raynham, MA, or Boston, MA, you will develop embedded firmware and electrical hardware for next‑generation surgical power tools and battery systems.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure design verification, regulatory compliance, and manufacturability, focusing on C/C++, MCU peripherals, motor control, and battery safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Eight or more years of relevant experience in architecture development for embedded hardware and firmware platforms.
• Strong foundation in analog/digital/mixed-signal design, power electronics, and control systems.
• Significant hands-on experience developing embedded firmware in C for microcontroller-based systems.
• Experience with PCB development, debugging, and embedded interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, LIN, CAN).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop surgical power tools, motor controllers, battery systems, chargers, handpieces, accessories, and supporting equipment.
• Define electrical system architectures including power distribution, motor drive circuitry, and safety circuits.
• Design electronics and embedded controls for three-phase brushless DC motor systems.
• Translate requirements into electrical specifications, schematics, PCB designs, and verification strategies.
• Perform design calculations, simulations, and tolerance analyses; participate in design reviews.
• Develop and maintain boot, startup, calibration, diagnostic, and firmware-update features.
