Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in the Orthopaedics division seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to drive embedded firmware and electrical hardware for surgical power tools and battery systems. The role spans Palm Beach Gardens, Raynham, or Boston locations.

You will develop firmware in C/C++ and work on motor control, battery management, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver safe, effective medical devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Eight+ years of embedded hardware and firmware development experience.
• Experience with low-level firmware, device drivers, and real-time systems.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, LIN, CAN interfaces.
• Experience with PCB design and board bring-up in regulated environments.
• Knowledge of IEC 60601-1 and ISO 13485 concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop surgical power tools, motor controllers, battery systems, chargers, handpieces, and accessories.
• Define architectures for electrical systems including power distribution and control hardware.
• Develop firmware for motor control, battery management, power sequencing, and sensors.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and support manufacturing transfer and post-market support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across mechanical, software, quality, regulatory, and clinical.
