Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, R&D for DePuy Synthes Orthopaedics. Based in Raynham, MA or Palm Beach Gardens, FL, you will lead embedded software for next‑gen orthopedic devices, collaborating with design, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams.

You will design and deliver software for electro‑mechanical devices, ensuring compliance with IEC 62304 and applicable standards, while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 8+ years.
• Experience in C/C++ and Python for embedded/medical apps.
• Experience with embedded Linux, RTOS, and board bring-up.

Responsibilities

• Lead embedded software architecture, design, development, integration, and verification for safety‑critical medical device applications.
• Develop production software in C/C++ and Python with technical leadership.
• Translate requirements into scalable software architectures and plans.
• Drive all phases of the software development lifecycle from requirements to post‑market support.
• Coordinate hardware/software integration and root cause analysis in cross‑functional teams.
