Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, integrate, and maintain Ethernet device drivers for USB- and PCIe-based network interface devices. You will work across Linux, Windows, QNX, and RTOS platforms, collaborating with hardware, firmware, validation, and customer-support teams across the US and abroad.

Responsibilities include driver development, integration, debugging, and providing customer-ready documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in CE, EE, CS, or related field with 7.5+ years relevant experience.
• Experience developing embedded software, device drivers, or low-level software for one or more operating systems including Linux, QNX, Windows, macOS, or RTOS platforms.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and working experience with Python.
• Knowledge of processor architectures and OS internals, including concurrency, interrupts, DMA, memory management, and device I/O.
• Experience developing software for ARM or x86 platforms is preferred.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, PCIe, USB, or other bus communication protocols is preferred.
• Knowledge of PTP and AVB is an advantage.
• Ability to read board-level schematics and debug with analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and maintain Ethernet NIC drivers and supporting software for Microchip USB- and PCIe-based network devices.
• Work across OSes such as Linux, Windows, QNX, and other embedded platforms.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, validation, and customer-support teams across locations.
• Create design, development, and support documentation.
