Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc, Hauppauge, NY and Austin, TX, seeks an experienced software engineer to develop and maintain Ethernet NIC drivers and related software across Linux, Windows, QNX, and other platforms. You will collaborate with hardware, firmware, validation, applications, and customer-support teams globally to resolve complex issues and deliver robust driver solutions.

The role requires 7.5+ years in embedded software or driver development, strong C/C++ and Python skills, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in CE, EE, CS or related field with 7.5+ years relevant experience.
Experience developing embedded software, device drivers, or low-level software for Linux, QNX, Windows, macOS, or RTOS platforms.
Strong programming skills in C/C++ and working experience with Python.
Knowledge of processor architectures and OS internals, including concurrency, interrupts, DMA, memory management, and device I/O.
Experience developing software for ARM or x86 platforms is preferred.
Knowledge of Ethernet, PCIe, USB, or other bus protocols is preferred.
Ability to read schematics and debug with analyzers and instruments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop, integrate, and maintain Ethernet NIC device drivers and supporting software across Linux, Windows, QNX, and other platforms.
Collaborate with hardware, firmware, validation, applications, and customer-support teams across geographies.
Design, implement, and maintain drivers and supporting tools for multiple operating systems.
Reproduce system-level issues, analyze driver, protocol, performance, and hardware interactions, and deliver verified resolutions.
