Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer - Embedded & Digital Hardware to lead development of next-generation electro-optical and sensing technologies. You will design, integrate, and validate complex embedded electronics and digital hardware from concept through production.

The role involves working with embedded processors, FPGAs, SoCs, and high-speed interfaces, shaping product architectures and solving challenging hardware problems in demanding environments worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience designing complex digital hardware, embedded electronics, or board-level electronic systems.
• Strong background in digital circuit design, hardware architecture, and PCB development.
• Experience with embedded processors, memory architectures, and high-speed digital interfaces (e.g., DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, SERDES, MIPI, UART, 1553, Aurora).

Responsibilities

• Define future products, technologies, and hardware roadmaps with Product Management and Business Development.
• Translate system requirements into robust hardware architectures and board-level designs.
• Design and develop complex PCB assemblies utilizing embedded processors, FPGA and SoC technologies, memory subsystems, and high-speed interfaces.
• Collaborate with Software, FPGA, Mechanical, Systems, Test, and Manufacturing Engineering teams throughout development.
• Create schematics, participate in PCB layout reviews, and ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability goals.
• Perform hands-on hardware bring-up, integration, debug, validation, and verification in lab environments.
• Troubleshoot complex electronic systems and conduct root cause investigations.
• Support signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives.
• Create design documentation, specifications, test procedures, and manufacturing release packages.
• Support new product introduction and transition into production.
• Evaluate technical tradeoffs and drive innovative solutions.
• Lead cross-functional technical efforts and communicate status, risks, and recommendations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in engineering efficiency and product quality.
