Job summary

Jobot in Seattle seeks a senior embedded software engineer to maintain and advance C-based control systems for autonomous ocean floats. You will split time between stabilizing existing software and driving new R&D, with hands-on hardware work on ARM microcontrollers.

You’ll own decoder software and collaborate with a lean five‑person engineering team, facing challenging, remote environments while delivering robust bare‑metal and Linux‑based embedded solutions.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience writing embedded C for resource-constrained, low-memory systems.
• Direct experience programming ARM microcontrollers.
• Knowledge of Linux-based embedded systems is required.
• Bare-metal/bootloader development experience preferred.
• Experience at the software–hardware boundary using schematics, datasheets and lab equipment.
• Java experience used on shore-side software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain existing float control software and drive new R&D development.
• Work directly with hardware on the bench to build, test, and refine bare-metal C code on ARM MCUs.
• Own the decoder software that supports customer data delivery.
• Collaborate with a lean five-person engineering team and engineering leadership.
