Job summary

Otis Elevator Co. is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to support NAA field service and maintenance personnel in elevator repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

You will diagnose complex mechanical and electromechanical issues, develop repair solutions, and improve reliability of elevator systems. The role involves on-site surveying, field pilot testing, and practical troubleshooting in hoistways and machine rooms.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 15+ years of engineering experience.
• 5+ years hands-on rotating equipment and motor troubleshooting, elevator preferred.
• Strong background in bearings, power transmission, and motors.
• Ability to perform engineering hand calculations and field-ready recommendations.
• Proven track record leading technical projects from concept to sales release.

Responsibilities

• Field Troubleshooting and Repair: diagnose failures, support field mechanics, investigate field incidents and conduct root cause analysis, jobsite testing.
• Project Management: manage moderately sized projects, deliver on schedule, create product upgrade packages, optimize data collection.
• Operations and Supply Management Support: develop engineering solutions, support manufacturing and contract engineering, create work instructions, reduce part costs and lead times.
• Documentation: create/update SPLs and TIPs, create drawings for parts, provide training to peers and engineers.
