Job summary

Otis is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer in Florence, SC to independently drive complex engineering activities from definition to execution. You will support design, development, optimization, and test of elevator components, focusing on mechanical systems, machines, governors, and related subsystems.

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering with 7+ years of experience (or MS with 5+ years), strong FEA capability, and proficiency with Creo/Ansys/SolidWorks/Catia.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years' experience or MS with 5+ years' experience.
  • Strong background in engineering calculations and analysis, including FEA.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Creo, Ansys, SolidWorks, Catia) and sound engineering judgment.
  • Fluent in English; authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex mechanical engineering projects and activities.
  • Accountable for performance, quality, and delivery to meet program targets.
  • Manage multiple propulsion projects with competing priorities and tight timelines.
  • Perform advanced engineering analyses including structural analysis and hand calculations.
  • Lead root-cause investigations for technical and reliability issues.
  • Develop corrective and preventive actions and close identified issues.
