Job summary

IonQ, Inc. in College Park, MD is seeking a Senior Electronics Technician to join a cross-functional team building the world’s best quantum computers. You will lead high-precision assembly of control systems, PCBA prep, box builds, and rack integration from schematics.

You will route complex wire harnesses, perform precision soldering, and verify connections to IPC Class 3 standards. This role requires 5+ years in high-tech electronics, IPC skills, and strong manual dexterity in a cleanroom/ESD

Qualifications

• 2-year Electronics/Mechatronics degree and 5+ years in high-tech electronics.
• Proficiency in IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.
• Reading and following complex schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience in an ESD-controlled environment and cleanroom protocols.
• Detail-oriented with strong fine motor skills for small components.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision through-hole and SMT assembly with high-reliability standards.
• Execute mechanical and electrical assembly of custom control chassis and rack systems.
• Install electronic assemblies into 19" racks and manage cable harnesses.
• Read electrical schematics, wire lists, and drawings to ensure correct builds.
• Capture redlines and document assembly best practices; participate in 5S and maintain ESD-safe environment.
• Inspect work and initiate NCRs with engineering to identify root causes.
