Job summary

IonQ, Inc. in College Park, MD is seeking a hands-on packaging technician to build and qualify hardware end to end in a cleanroom environment. You will train across 7–8 critical processes and then run these processes on small, high‑value components.

Ideal candidates have ~2+ years in high-tech manufacturing or precision assembly, experience with microscope work, and the ability to follow complex procedures with vigilance. The role requires onsite work five days a week.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on experience in high-tech manufacturing, lab or precision-assembly environments.
• Fine motor skills with small components; microscope work and precision assembly.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints, specifications, and SOPs precisely.

Responsibilities

• Execute released procedures to clean, assemble, bond, inspect, and test packaged ion traps and related hardware.
• Operate complex packaging equipment.
• Handle small, fragile components under a microscope with care.
• Perform incoming inspection and record results with travelers and discrepancy reports.
• Collect process/test data and flag trends for engineering team.
• Draft recipe or program adjustments within engineer-defined limits.
• Support daily cleanroom operations and supply parts for work orders.
