Job summary

Vector Atomic, an IonQ company, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to drive end‑to‑end PCBA design for quantum instruments in Pleasanton, CA. You will oversee lifecycle stages from concept to production, balancing high‑speed digital, analog, and RF challenges with quality and manufacturability.

The role requires 6+ years of experience in complex PCB design or 3+ years with a master's degree, plus hands‑on debugging and cross‑functional collaboration with physicists and mechanical/optical

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 6+ years of experience or Master’s with 3+ years.
  • 3+ years of complex mixed‑signal PCBA design using advanced ECAD tools.
  • HDI/high‑density layouts, fine‑pitch BGAs, and controlled impedance structures.
  • Experience with FPGAs, MCUs, and precision analog circuits.
  • Hands‑on debugging with standard lab equipment and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • System design & collaboration with physicists and engineers to translate requirements into schematics.
  • Lead full‑lifecycle PCBA development for high‑speed digital, analog, mixed‑signal, and RF boards.
  • Set and advocate PCB design standards, impedance profiles, and EMI/EMC strategies.
  • Optimize component selection, routing, signal power integrity, and manufacturability.
  • Design POL power supplies with strict sequencing, ripple, and efficiency requirements.
  • Collaborate with fabricators to improve yields and define test procedures (DFM/DFA).
  • Maintain design data and ECOs in a cloud PLM system.
  • Perform hands‑on hardware debugging and verification with lab equipment.
