Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Colorado is hiring for a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, design, and execute fabrication of electrical assemblies for aerospace systems. You will create production processes and ground support equipment, combining hands‑on production with troubleshooting and documentation responsibilities.

The role emphasizes DFMA, NC disposition, and cross‑functional collaboration with design teams to improve manufacturability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with complex electrical aerospace or space hardware.
  • Experience operating, diagnosing, and dispositioning non‑conforming electrical hardware, harnesses, software, and/or firmware.
  • Strong electrical assembly experience including: SMT and PTH component install.
  • Cable, Crimp, and Harness assembly.
  • PCBA Rework/ Repair.
  • Component bonding/ staking.
  • In‑process PCBA testing utilizing power supplies, oscilloscopes, digital multi‑meters, network analyzers, etc.
  • PCBA Cleanliness Verification and Conformal Coating.
  • Familiarity with NASA standards and IPC/J-STD specs.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (SolidWorks or Creo Pro/E).
  • Experience applying DFMA principles in design development.
  • Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands‑on support to technician team to support prompt resolution of issues in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Lead troubleshooting and disposition of non‑conforming (NC) avionics hardware, software, firmware, and electrical systems through detailed work instructions.
  • Drive isolation, containment, and resolution of NC parts and assemblies.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and RC/CA to prevent recurrence of manufacturing and hardware issues.
  • Support design and operational gated reviews by contributing to required technical artifacts and readiness assessments.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to implement Engineering Change Requests (CRs) that improve manufacturability and reduce non‑conformances.
  • Partner with design teams early in the development cycle to improve Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) prior to design release.
