Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Aerospace Systems Engineer to lead requirements decomposition from customer needs to testable designs and to develop, document, and maintain electronic and electrical system requirements.

You will design hardware, software, and interface specifications, coordinate with suppliers and labs, mentor junior engineers, and support cross-functional aerospace programs across fighters, trainers, unmanned systems, and weapon systems. U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautical) or related field.
  • Willing to relocate to the St. Louis, Missouri region.
  • Level 2: 2+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s.
  • Level 3: 5+ years of related experience.
  • Level 4: 9+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience within a design/build or test team.
  • Experience creating and maintaining engineering processes.
  • Experience with electronic/electrical system design or test plan development.

Job description

  • Lead requirements decomposition and traceability from customer needs to testable designs
  • Develop, document, and maintain electronic and electrical system requirements
  • Design hardware, software, and interface specifications
  • Develop statements of work and technical performance specifications
  • Translate customer requirements into system architectures, hardware and software designs, and interface specifications
  • Define test and validation approaches for operational and functional requirements
  • Troubleshoot integration and sustainment anomalies across hardware and software lifecycles
  • Investigate emerging technologies for future product designs and internal business strategies
  • Monitor supplier performance for system integrity and requirements compliance
  • Coordinate suppliers, test labs, and cross-discipline engineering to deliver on schedule and cost
  • Solve problems involving fielded hardware and software throughout the product lifecycle
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements and technical standards
  • Work on aircraft electronic/electrical systems for fighters, trainers, unmanned systems, and weapon systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on aerospace programs
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Currently reside in or be willing to relocate to the St. Louis, Missouri region
  • Level 2: 2+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelor’s, or equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Experience within a design/build or test team
  • Experience creating, developing, and/or maintaining engineering processes
  • Experience with electronic/electrical system design or test plan development and execution based on requirements
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, system design, and architecture
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required by the U.S. Government
  • Final U.S. Secret or Top-Secret Clearance required post-start
  • Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements may be required
  • Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process
  • Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
  • Subject to post-offer drug and alcohol testing when criteria are met
