Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state is seeking an experienced engineer to own the development and qualification test equipment for solar array programs. You will design and validate test stands, integrate sensors and instrumentation, and write automation software to run tests that confirm hardware performance.

This role blends mechanical design, electrical instrumentation, and embedded control. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor juniors, and contribute to aerospace test

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years designing and building electromechanical test equipment or GSE.
  • Experience integrating sensors into test systems and interpreting data.
  • Hands-on electrical/mechanical hardware wiring and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and validate development test setups and QTP test stands for spacecraft subsystems.
  • Create electro-mechanical test stands with sensors, motors, and microcontrollers.
  • Develop test methods to quantify friction, drag, and performance losses.
  • Build sensor test stands and instrument test setups across ranges and environments.
  • Write test procedures and code (LabVIEW, Python, PLC) to run automated tests.
  • Analyze test data to inform pass/fail criteria and hardware decisions.
  • Collaborate with mechanisms and electrical engineers on testing needs.
