Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Washington state seeks an experienced electrical/avionics engineer to design and integrate hardware, software, and interconnects for avionic systems. You will develop test plans, perform verification, document results, and troubleshoot in a lab environment.

The role involves collaboration across engineering teams, lab automation, and support for vehicle hardware integration and system simulations.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience with electronics or electrical/electromechanical systems, including prototyping, design, integration or test
  • Understanding of digital, analog and mixed-signal parts (CPUs, FPGAs, microcontrollers, ADCs, DACs, OpAmps, power supplies, MOSFETs, LVDS, SPI, I2C, RS422/232, Ethernet, PCIe)
  • Experience with safety-critical systems development (aerospace, medical, automotive)
  • Experience integrating and testing vehicle systems
  • Experience developing special electronic test equipment and troubleshooting equipment
  • Proficient in standard electronic lab tests and troubleshooting equipment
  • Hands-on work across development and production phases
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Soldering, PCB rework, crimping, harness/connector assembly

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, build, and integrate electrical/avionics hardware, software, and interconnect solutions to support avionic systems
  • Develop test plans, procedures, and scripts for standalone and integrated environments
  • Conduct ad-hoc and formal verification and validation testing
  • Document test results and communicate risks and solutions to peers
  • Perform data interpretation and analysis of integrated electrical/avionics systems
  • Support integration of vehicle hardware, ground support equipment, operator consoles and analysis tooling
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware and software issues in a lab environment
  • Design, develop and implement lab test tools and software to automate testing processes
  • Support wiring, hardware installation and test bench setup
  • Participate in design and system reviews to provide feedback on integration and testability
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate hardware simulation and fault injection with real-time vehicle simulations
