Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced packaging engineer to own ruggedized enclosures and electro‑optical assemblies, guiding from concept to flight release for national security programs. You will design mechanical and thermal paths, fiber management, and harness interfaces while collaborating with electrical teams to ensure reliability in harsh space environments.

You will mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and support production and test campaigns, all while complying with security

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Optical, or Photonics Engineering with 3–5+ years in high-rel packaging.
• Experience packaging electro-optical hardware and RF/photonic components.
• Strong CAD, tolerancing, and assembly design capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Own complex packaging assemblies from concept through production support.
• Lead mechanical/thermal design of modem and photonics units for flight readiness.
• Define fiber tray design and internal management, including routing and splice retention.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and PCB designers from layout to test.
• Drive analyses (thermal, vibration, fatigue) and release packages with ICDs.
