Job summary

Power Engineering Services, a Quanta Services Company, seeks Electrical Testing Technicians (NETA 3) to join our Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio teams. You will independently perform acceptance, maintenance, and commissioning tests on switchgear, transformers, and protection equipment, and lead on-site crews.

The role requires a NETA Level 3 certification (or Level 2 with eligibility for Level 3 within 6 months), 5+ years of electrical testing experience, and strong knowledge of

Qualifications

• NETA Level 3 certification, or Level 2 with eligibility to sit for Level 3 within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of 5 years of full-time electrical testing experience, per ANSI/NETA ETT Level 3 requirements.
• Associate degree or technical/trade certificate; Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NESC, and IEEE/ANSI standards; familiarity with ANSI/NETA ATS and MTS testing specs.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate test data and provide pass/fail and corrective-action recommendations without supervision.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform acceptance, maintenance, and commissioning testing on switchgear, transformers, protective relays, and related equipment.
• Direct on-site work of Level 1 and Level 2 technicians; supervise safety and quality on routine to moderately complex jobs.
• Evaluate test data against specs and prior test history; identify deficiencies and recommend corrective action.
• Author field test reports and deliver findings to customers and project engineers.
• Own job-site safety, including energized work permits, lockout/tagout, arc flash, and NFPA 70E compliance.
• Program, configure, and test protective relays; perform functional testing of protection schemes.
• Troubleshoot power system failures; escalate to engineering when needed beyond field scope.
• Mentor junior technicians and apprentices; document and acknowledge work performed.
• Manage test equipment calibration, material readiness, and daily job documentation.
• Interface with customers on scope, schedule, findings, and changes; keep senior technician informed.
