Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. seeks a Commissioning Technician III for our Field Services team. You will support utility substation protection and control commissioning activities, including testing, documentation, and risk assessment, with potential long-duration travel.

We value candidates with experience in protection systems, wiring diagrams, and field testing, who can work flexible hours and communicate effectively with clients and teams. This is a full-time on-site opportunity with benefits.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand construction/manufacturer drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of electrical protection systems incl. relay communications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, perform and document commissioning activities for substation protection and power circuits.
• Review wiring diagrams and engineering documents before projects/outages.
• Troubleshoot and analyze protection/control system issues and equipment malfunctions.
• Participate in kickoff, planning, progress and lessons-learned meetings.
• Prepare detailed daily/weekly/project completion reports and test results.
• Develop project-specific testing/energization plans and related documentation.
