Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in the United States is seeking an electrical commissioning professional to support testing and startup of power and protection systems.

You will work with engineers to perform tests on substations and other equipment, and prepare detailed test reports for clients. Ideal candidates hold an associate degree or technical training, basic knowledge of AC/DC schematics, and strong communication and PC skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent technical training.
• Team player with initiative and self-motivation.
• Basic knowledge of AC and DC schematics and drawings.
• Ability to interpret one- and three-line diagrams.
• Willing to travel up to several weeks; flexible hours incl. weekends.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong PC skills; proficient with Adobe and Microsoft.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Ability to operate a man-lift.
• Able to meet physical demands.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply IEEE and NETA standards.
• Provide high level customer service and professional relationships with clients.
• Promote information flow and maintain records.
• Learn troubleshooting on protection and control systems.
• Support in areas of high technical complexity.
• Participate in project meetings.
• Identify risks and mitigation techniques on utility systems.
• Adhere to site risk assessment documentation.
• Learn circuit isolation and restoration processes.
• Prepare detailed test reports and documentation.
• Manage project drawings and onsite housekeeping.
• Ensure drawings reflect as-left condition.
• Understand tests on equipment per project docs.
• Ensure test results are recorded and distributed.
• Assist other engineers during commissioning.
• Conduct TRC walkdown prior to energizing equipment.
