Job summary

Siemens in Wendell, NC seeks a Senior Application Engineer for GIS and MV Secondary Switchgear proposals. You will translate customer specs into technically sound, competitively priced solutions across data center, industrial, utility and construction markets.

Responsibilities include reviewing documents, drafting layouts, collaborating with engineers, preparing RFQ packages, evaluating quotes, and developing cost models. Travel is under 10% and sponsorship is not needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Ability to analyze customer specifications & single-line diagrams and map to cost-effective product offerings.
• Basic financial understanding to support business planning and lifecycle processes.
• Excellent collaboration, leadership and decision-making in a team environment.
• Strong communication skills for internal and external customers.
• Ability to identify market trends and justify projects with Marketing/Technology teams.
• Proficient PC skills and willingness to learn product configuration/pricing tools.
• Less than 10% travel.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications and documents to define the preliminary scope of work.
• Prepare layouts and single-line drawings to illustrate scope.
• Collaborate with Engineers to develop technical solutions within Siemens portfolio.
• Prepare RFQ packages for third-party products and coordinate with Procurement.
• Evaluate quotes and advise on design and vendor choices.
• Develop cost models and secure approvals for proposals.
• Prepare customer-facing proposals for MV switchgear and related products.
• Engage with Business Development and Sales in customer discussions.
• Coordinate with PMO for smooth handover after bid success.
