Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. seeks an Electrical Project Engineer to act as a senior technical lead for planning, design, and execution of electrical building systems.

The role blends advanced design capability with project leadership, client coordination, and mentorship responsibilities to drive high-quality delivery across multiple concurrent assignments. The position requires a PE license and 8–12+ years of experience in electrical design for commercial, healthcare, institutional, or laboratory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related discipline.
• 8–12+ years of electrical design experience for building systems projects.
• PE license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical system design for building projects: service distribution, power, lighting, and controls.
• Own discipline deliverables from schematic through construction, ensuring quality and code compliance.
• Prepare, review, and approve engineering calculations, equipment selections, drawings, and specs.
• Manage budgets, schedules, staffing, and project priorities with PMs and leaders.
• Interface with clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain momentum.
• Lead construction administration: submittals, RFIs, site observations, issue resolution.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers, provide technical review, and develop standards and best practices.
• Assist with proposals, project setup, fee planning, and BD input.
