Job summary

HPM seeks an Electrical Preconstruction Manager to lead conceptual budgeting and detailed estimates for electrical, low voltage, lighting, and related systems across multiple projects. You will manage scope, quantity surveys, and pricing, coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, and train a team to produce budgets and iterative estimates from limited design information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Building Science, Construction Management, mechanical or electrical engineering.
• 7+ years in pre-construction/estimating with large commercial/industrial electrical projects.
• Advanced knowledge of cost estimating, value engineering, budgeting and scheduling.
• Proficient in MS Office; experience with BIM and Trimble Enterprise preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and train/manage others to perform cost budgets for electrical, low voltage systems, lighting, fire alarm, site lighting and power distribution systems.
• Provide team support for budgeting; maintain electrical project estimates and related Value Optimization options.
• Communicate with manufacturers, vendors, general contractors and owners; evaluate proposals and ensure pricing accuracy.
• Confer with stakeholders on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors.
• Review drawings/plans for discrepancies; highlight issues.
• Review plans to prepare quantity surveys using 2D and 3D tools.
• Research industry trends, new technologies, energy codes, and labor costs; share with team.
• Train and manage a team to provide conceptual budgets and iterative detailed estimates.
