Job summary

HPM is seeking an Electrical Preconstruction Manager in Dallas, TX to lead conceptual budgeting and detailed estimating for electrical, low voltage, lighting, and related systems across commercial and industrial projects. You will oversee a team, coordinate with suppliers and general contractors, review drawings, prepare quantity surveys, and travel up to 10% as needed.

This role requires strong knowledge of cost in EMS and BIM tools, and a track record of handling multiple concurrent projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Building Science, construction management, mechanical or electrical engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in pre-construction/estimating for large commercial or industrial projects.
• Advanced knowledge of construction cost estimating, value engineering, conceptual budgeting, and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Perform and train/manage others to perform cost budgets for electrical, low voltage systems, lighting, fire alarm, site lighting and power distribution systems, including planning quantity survey, sub/vendor solicitation, preparation of scope sheets, estimate preparation, review, and presentation.
• Provide team support for all budgeting related specifically to electrical and related systems. Prepare and maintain the electrical systems project estimates and related Value Optimization options.
• Effectively communicate with manufacturers, vendors, general contractors, and owners throughout the preconstruction process, build relationships, evaluates proposals, and ensures accuracy of scope of work and pricing.
• Confer with manufacturers, vendors, general contractors, owners and HPM team members on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors.
• Review drawings and plans for conflicting dimensions, elevations, and discrepancies. Highlight issues.
• Review plans and specification to prepare quantity surveys utilizing both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional quantity survey tools.
• Researches and communicates to HPM team members changes in industry trends, new technologies/materials, energy code requirement changes, relevant commodity pricing fluctuations, and labor issues.
• Train and manage a team to provide conceptual cost budgets and often iterative detailed cost estimates based on the level of design documentation available for a given project phase.
