Job summary

HPM is seeking an Electrical Preconstruction Manager to lead conceptual budgeting and detailed estimates for electrical, low voltage, lighting, and related systems. You will forecast costs, review drawings, and train a team to deliver budgets and estimates across multiple projects.

The role requires 7+ years in pre-construction/estimating, strong knowledge of cost estimating, BIM, Trimble, and MS Office, with travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in Building Science, Construction Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
7+ years in Pre-construction/Estimating on large commercial/industrial projects (electrical, low voltage, utilities).
Advanced knowledge of construction cost estimating, value engineering, conceptual budgeting, and scheduling.

Responsibilities

Perform cost budgets for electrical, low voltage, lighting, fire alarm, and power distribution systems.
Prepare and maintain electrical system project estimates and Value Optimization options.
Communicate with manufacturers, vendors, GCs, and owners to ensure accurate scope and pricing.
Confer with stakeholders on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors.
Review drawings for discrepancies and highlight issues.
Prepare quantity surveys using 2D and 3D tools.
Track industry trends, new tech, energy code changes, and labor costs.
Train and manage a team to provide conceptual budgets and iterative cost estimates.
