The Department of Transportation in New York City seeks an Administrative Inspector (Electrical) to lead a citywide team of electrical inspectors, upgrading traffic intersections to APS readiness and coordinating with other agencies.

The candidate will conduct layouts, surveys, and meetings with contractors, ensuring materials meet specifications and supervising borough operations when needed. A valid NY license and supervisory experience are essential.

Formación

• Seven years of full-time satisfactory experience as an electrician, designer, or inspector of electrical installations for light, heat and/or power distribution, traffic signals, fire alarm detection or communication systems, at least eighteen months of which must have been in a managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity; or
• Five years of experience as described in “1” above, at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity and one of the following: (a) 60 credits towards a degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an accredited college or university; or (b) Two years of full-time training in an acceptable electrical program in an accredited technical school; or
• Completion of an apprentice program, at least three years in length, in the electrical trade or electrical inspection, and either: (a) four years of experience as described in “1” above, or (b) two years of experience as described in “1” above plus either 60 credits or two years of education as described in ”2” above.
• A license as a professional engineer or registered architect issued pursuant to the New York State Education Law, and at least two years of experience as described in “1” above, at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity; or
• Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1,” “2,” or “3” above. All candidates must have at least two years of experience as described in “1” above, at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise a citywide team of Electrical Inspectors responsible for a large scale electrical inspection program to upgrade all traffic intersections to be APS ready.
• Conduct layouts and surveys for thousands of traffic intersections and coordinate with other city agencies to relocate street furniture and components attached to traffic signal and street lighting poles.
• Conduct monthly meetings with construction contractors, monitor the use of City equipment and contractor inventory, and ensure that only approved materials are used on the project.
• In absence of Administrative Electrical Inspectors, may step in to manage borough operations and review contractor progress reports and inspector field reports.
• Coordinate and inspect attachments by authorized users of equipment under the authority of NYCDOT.
