Job summary

City of New York seeks an Administrative Inspector (Electrical) to lead a citywide team responsible for upgrading traffic intersections to APS readiness. You will supervise inspectors, conduct layouts, surveys, and coordinate with other city agencies to relocate street furniture and components on traffic signal/pole equipment.

The role involves reviewing contractor progress, prioritizing inspections, and ensuring materials meet department specs.

Qualifications

• Seven years of full-time experience as an electrician, designer, or inspector of electrical installations for light, heat and/or power distribution, at least eighteen months in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
• Five years of experience with at least 18 months in management and relevant education or training options (60 credits toward an electrical degree or two years of technical training).
• Completion of an apprentice program, at least three years, with required advancement in electrical trade/inspection.
• License as a professional engineer or registered architect with two years of qualified experience, including supervisory time.
• Equivalence of education/experience to the above, with at least 18 months in supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a citywide team of Electrical Inspectors for a large scale inspection program.
• Conduct layouts and surveys for thousands of traffic intersections and coordinate with city agencies.
• Review progress reports and inspector field reports and set priorities for inspectors.
• Coordinate and inspect attachments by authorized users of equipment under NYCDOT authority.
