Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Englewood, Colorado is seeking a senior electrical/instrumentation & controls designer to lead project teams through power plant design and upgrade initiatives.

This hybrid role combines three on-site days with two remote days; you will review grounding layouts, cable schedules, raceways, electrical notes, and equipment layouts while guiding staff and coordinating with project management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent technical design experience.
• 15+ years electrical/instrumentation and controls design experience, including 2D/3D.
• Experience reviewing Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls deliverables.
• Extensive drafting using AutoCAD or MicroStation on power plants or large facilities.
• Strong drafting practices and ability to interface with multi-discipline teams.
• Experience developing grounding layouts, underground duct banks, cable tray layouts, instrument location plans, and area classifications.
• Familiarity with energy & industrial facility design processes.
• Valued: Associates Degree in CAD; experience with AutoCAD & MicroStation.
• Design experience for single-line, relay & metering diagrams; MV & 480V systems.
• Familiarity with digital control systems; ability to travel for meetings.

Responsibilities

• Review, supervise and guide production of design deliverables.
• Lead three areas: grounding layouts, cable schedules, raceways, notes, and equipment layouts.
• Develop and manage project scopes, budgets and schedules with management.
• Oversee staff assignments, evaluations and career development.
• Lead multiple teams across projects; coordinate with PM and discipline leads.
• Develop, monitor and control project costs and schedules.
• Lead field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
